Built by MK was integral to the design process, creating a space for a Bronte local legend while honouring the essence of the original garage gym. Our clients were passionate about preserving the character of the old space, which featured sandstone walls and natural wood elements from the sauna. Our goal was to reinterpret that warmth in a more refined and considered way. We used a Porter’s Paint stone finish to echo the texture of sandstone and incorporated MCM wooden cubes in the seating area as a subtle nod to the original timber elements.

Rather than leaning into the typical black-and-white aesthetic common in many gyms, we aimed to create something more elevated — a space that feels intentional, warm, and timeless. Every design decision was made to ensure The Avenue is not only functional, but also a place where people feel comfortable, refreshed, and inspired from the moment they walk in.
